My Teaser this week: comes from a book I am so delighted to own.

DOWN THE TUBES by KATE RIGBY

Damn this is good writing. I recognized it as such the first time I read a few chapters. yet now with time to spare I have found so much more to enjoy...from the first sentence, Cheryl being angular, and the marvelous geometric usages sharp, cubed, colors of black and red, crisp. The characterizations of every player in this are superbly crafted.
A joy to read and reread.

Teaser from page: 3
It's over four years since she last lived in London, south of the river. That's why she stood
outside Camden Town tube, before her interview, waving her photocopied map at passers-by
who said, Sorry, I'm only a visitor too; or Sorry, I speak not much English. That's the
moment she might have turned back, because she felt this little shiver. Not just the December
wind, but the draughty space all around her where family have always been, crowding her
out. Family, kids, clutter.
