Book Review: "Harry Walker's Wife" by Tim Roux

Book Review: "Harry Walker's Wife" by Tim Roux

 Product Description;

Keith and Chrissie McGuire are determined to create a perfect life for themselves and their two children.

Everything is going well: Chrissie is a lawyer, Keith is an up-and-coming architect, and the children are well-loved and well provided for.

However, when Keith and Chrissie decide to visit a hypnotherapist to address some residual childhood issues, Keith emerges from his hypnotic trance as Harry Walker, a petty gangster loathed by everybody who knows him, including his wife and child, and locked in deadly rivalry with Planty, a notorious local hard man.

Phew! I just finished reading this new work by Tim Roux, and my flatmate is asking me about the smile of satisfaction I’m wearing.

Smug smiles aside, let me tell you why I am a satisfied reader. This book took me out of my own place and space in time and hurtled me into the world of Keith Macguire and Harry Walker…each dilineated perfectly so no misunderstanding occurs to the reader. Not so the other people that exist in this fast-paced often funny and moving book.

Yin and yang…the opposite sides of one coin or two conflicting characters imprinted on one side only?

Author Tim Roux challenges you, and then invites you into the worlds of Keith Macguire and by extension Harry Walker.

Don’t read this book if you are expecting a rehash of the old body swap storyline. That is not what this clever author has done.

He has invaded the thought processes and driving needs of two entirely different personas and he has crafted them with great skill and seemlessly etched them onto the pages.

Others have gone deeply into the storyline, I won’t repeat what has already been said. Suffice it to say that this work is unique, it has a melody all of it’s own.

Author Tim Roux teases you with possibilities, and just as you think you know exactly where this is going, and say to yourself..ahh..”I know how this will end” You are proven wrong, and the book taunts you to read faster to find just how all these complex personalities will complete their journey.

That is the mark of a talented author. Satisfaction at a terrific read, and that edge of sadness when you finish a book that intrigued you completely.
