March Madness: March 20th Author Jessica Degarmo "Six Weeks"

March Madness for March 20th Welcomes Author Jessica Degarmo.
Jessica L. Degarmo is a wife, mother, insurance agent, recent college graduate and the lead singer of the classic rock band Department 24. She enjoys reading, writing, singing and hanging out with her family. She is the author of five novels and is currently working on several other projects.
Featured Book..."SIX WEEKS"

SIX WEEKS FOR LIFE OR DEATH ......

In 'Six Weeks', Jessica L. Degarmo departs from the style of her very successful Romance novels - 'Hooking Up', 'The Storm Within', 'Decisions' and 'How To Meet A Guy In The Supermarket' - to examine every teenage girl's nightmare: that she is pregnant and not certain she's ready for a child.

It is a life and death decision – not her life, but her decision - and despite the opinions of those around her, she is on her own.

In a world of gray, one thing is black and white. Six weeks is her deadline to decide.

Maybe you have been there, in which case you will understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars One to read - not in Six Weeks... right now!, September 2, 2011
This review is from: Six Weeks (Kindle Edition)
I think this is an excellent book. 'Six Weeks' deals with one of life's hardest dilemmas - an unplanned pregnancy. The author, Jessica Degarmo cleverly takes the reader through the whole gambit of emotions and choices without once moralising on behalf of the reader - something that would have been very easy to do, inadvertently or otherwise. The story is enhanced by the harsh domestic backdrop of the protangonist, Imogene and her younger sister, Sadie. The use of the first person works exceptionally well in this expertly written and compelling story. If you haven't read 'Six Weeks' yet, I highly recommend that you do.

  1. Having read the beginning of Hooking Up some time ago I enjoyed the style of Jessicas writing. Not my usual genre but there was that something about it that made it stand out.

I wish her all the best with her future as a writer.

  2. Jess is one of my favourite Night Publishing writers. How to Meet a Guy at the Supermarket is both funny and true to life, Hooking Up is equally gripping and amusing, Decisions is a more serious but yet very enjoyable story – I could go on. Jess has written so many good books by now, and each one different from the others. I've heard great things about Six Weeks and would love to read it. Hope there are lots more Degarmo books to come!

  4. I haven't read Six Weeks yet (it's in my TBR pile), but I have had the pleasure of reading Jess's other books. She is a truly fantastic author and an equally lovely person. I'm lucky to have her as a friend. Whoever wins this book is in for a treat! x

  5. I haven't read Six Weeks and being a strong advocate of the extremely contraceptive injection am unlikely to find myself in the protagnonist's situation.

But I think Jess is a great author and I really enjoyed How to meet a guy at the Supermarket

  6. I read "Six Weeks" when it first came out, and couldn't put it down. It is beautifully written and tears at your heart-strings. It is a brave book about a very important topical subject and should be read by all teenage girls and their mothers and fathers too.
In my opinion it is Jessica's finest piece of writing and that's saying something as she has published several excellent best-sellers.
Don't miss this one. It is a must-read.

  7. Jessica, the Romance Queen.
But 'Six Weeks' is altogether different - the same skills she uses to write her popular romances, are now used to make a story that seems very real - the dilemma with no 'right' answer. It is very well done.

  11. Jess is an amazingly talented lady. I know her mainly as a humorous writer, so it's interesting to see her trying a more serious approach. In any case, I'm sure she'll pull it off.
