March 4th and March Madness welcomes Author: Annabel Candy " Successful Blogging in 12 Easy Steps"
Blogging Ebook Review Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps
Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps teaches small business owners and writers how to effectively market or sell their products online. The clear tips and well thought out information will save them time and money.
About the Author
Annabel Candy has16 years experience writing and designing for the internet and an MA Design for Interactive Media. She also have a background in journalism and six years teaching experience but she's a writer, not a techie so the book is free of technical jargon.
Annabel set up a travel blog called Get In the Hot Spot two years ago which now has over 20,000 readers each month. Realising blogging was a powerful marketing tool she wrote Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps to share her blogging tips and help other small business owners and writers tap into the power of blogging. Find out more about the Successful Blogging book.
The Format
The ebook is clearly laid out and divided into 12 chapters. It's available for instant download and looks great on my iPad. Every chapter has thinking points and a check list so you won't forget anything.
There's a full list of blogging resources at the end of the book and a bonus chapter on motivation.
There's also an audio book for those who want to listen instead of read.
The Content
Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps covers everything from designing your blog to writing content and promoting it. There are chapters on:
- Topic and Goals
- Branding
- Planning Your Blog
- Blog Set Up
- Writing Static Content
- Writing Blog Posts
- Writing for the Web
- Reality Check and Add Value
- Blogging and Social Media
- Online Networking
- SEO, Statistics and Rating Progress
- Guest Posting
Strengths
This is a great introduction to blogging for new bloggers and bloggers who aren't getting results from their blogs.
The chapters on content creation and formatting are essential reading.
The book will help you plan your blog to achieve your goals and come up with a detailed brief which you can give to a blog or web designer to make sure you get exactly what you need.
Annabel has had guest posts on Copyblogger, Problogger, Zen Habits and other popular blogs and she shares inside information on guest posting.
Weaknesses
There's no information on the technical side of setting up a blog. The book assumes either you can do that yourself or you'll get someone to do it for you.
Final Thoughts
What really sets this book apart from the other blogging books is the lack of technical jargon and a realistic approach real business people will be able to understand and manage. Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps:
- makes blogging accessible to non-technical people.
- will inspire and encourage you to get into blogging.
- will help you come up with a clear plan on how to make sure your blog achieves your goals.
- will make the process of writing blog content easy and fun.
It also offers great value for money and comes with a guarantee so I recommend you check it out.

This sounds like a really wonderful book, useful and informative and apparently constructed so clearly that it would be a boon for people like me who struggle to know how to blog well. It's a book I would really love to have. Thank you so much for promoting it here, Soooz.
ReplyDeleteReally professional layout, looks good.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post, Soooz. This book sounds like it would be a very interesting read.
ReplyDeleteFor a novice blogger no idea about blogging sounds like a great book to get and read
ReplyDeleteSteve
Very informative.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually one for reading 'how to' books but this one sounds really useful. Especially if it doesn't sound like a tech manual when you are reading it! I've never read a book on how to work a computer in my life, yet I spend most of my day working with one!!
ReplyDeleteNow this is a book I would really like to have! My poor blog doesn't get nearly enough attention from me – but then, I enjoy writing it whenever I do get round to it!
ReplyDeleteHi Sooz and the gang, thanks so much for featuring my book and for checking it out:) It's great to connect with more brilliant bloggers and book lovers!
ReplyDeleteHi, Annabel. You are so welcome, and put me down as a new reader. The promotion is attracting great comments and still 10 hours to go!
ReplyDeleteThanks to all the lovely folks that participated and commented on this post.
ReplyDeleteOkay the winner has been selected! Congratulations Sheila Mary Taylor!
You are the winner of Annabel's book Successful Blogging in 12 Simple Steps.
Great! I love Sheila, so I'm delighted she won what would appear to be essential reading for would-be bloggers. Annabel's book looks interesting, though I suspect the competition is fierce for "How to blog" books. In any case, I'm going to have a look at it before I make any further blog entries.
